Makhdoom Sahib (RA) shrine is yet to be sanitized by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) as head Imaam and others tested positive for covid-19.

It is in place to mention that recently Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Junaid Matto appealed LG Manoj Sinha to close all the gardens and shrines, Masjids in Kashmir due to the steep rise in covid-19 cases.

Earlier JK administration has said that they will not ban congregational prayers during holy month of Ramdhan and allow people to enter the masjids collectively. On an average on the daily basis 2000 people are testing positive to covid-19 and it has alarmed many sections of the society but the government is only responding by announcing micro containment zones.

Meanwhile KNT in its report about the Makhdoom Sahib (RA) shrine fumigation has said, the management of Makhdoom Sahib (RA) shrine Saturday appealed Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to sanitize and fumigate the shrine as the head Imam and others have been tested positive for Covid-19.

One of the members of Management told KNT that besides Imam of Ziyarat Makdhoon Sahib (RA), half a dozen people related to the shrine have been tested positive, but still Wakf Board has done nothing to sanitize the Shrine.

“We informed Wakf Board but our requests have gone to deaf ears. Now we have appealed to SMC and hopefully one of the officials there is assured that the shrine will be sanitized and fumigated,” he said.

The shrine of Sufi mystic Hamza Makhdoom Kashmiri who was popularly known as Makhdoom Sahib is located in the foothills of Hari Parbat Srinagar.
