After corona curfew train services suspended till May 16

The government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to contain the public mingling on eid and have also directed the railway authorities to suspend their services in Kashmir initially for one week.

There has been a huge rush on railway platforms without adhering to sops people waiting for the trains to reach their respective destinations.

If the surge continues, it is most likely that train services will be suspended further. Earlier the government also decided that its own employees will come on 50% basis to the different offices and their attendance would be regulated by the duty roasters of the department.

A fresh cap has been put on the presence of guests in the marriage ceremony only up to 25. Earlier the cap was put to 50 people. According to the KNO report regarding the suspension of railway services, authorities in Kashmir announced the suspension of train services from tomorrow (May 10) till May 16 due to rise in Covid-19 cases in the valley.

Chief area manager railways Saqib Yousuf told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that train services will be suspended from tomorrow (May 10) till May 16 evening.

He said as of now they have directions to suspend the train services for one week, which can be extended further as per the situation.

Saqib said that the decision has been taken on requisition of the J&K government in view of surge in Covid-19 cases.

He added that despite lockdown the train service was running with around 50 per cent of the total capacity.
