PAGD to attend Prime Ministers JK meeting in New Delhi

After holding a meeting at the residence of Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday, the People’s Alliance for Gupkar declaration announced that they will participate in the meeting to be held by the Prime Minister in New Delhi on June 24.

While the Prime Minister has called an all party meeting at New Delhi regarding Jammu and Kashmir, reports from New Delhi have quoted official sources saying that in the meeting the central government is going to discuss Jammu and Kashmir issues and the ongoing delimitation exercise.

Both Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq Abdullah talked to the media after the meeting and said that they have decided to participate in the all party meeting and put their point of view before the Prime Minister.

According to the TNS report, on Tuesday PAGD has decided to go to New Delhi and Farooq Abdullah would be accompanied by Mehbooba Mufti and Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami.

After a meeting on Tuesday, PAGD leaders said they were in favor of a dialogue to resolve the J-K issue and would attend the meeting.

“We favour a dialogue. There is no other way than a dialogue to resolve the current issues. The government should talk to everyone, including Pakistan, for a resolution,” PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said.

NC chief Farooq Abdullah, former CMs Omar Abdullah and Ghulam Nabi Azad, CPM’s M Tarigami and other Gupkar alliance leaders will go for the meeting.

They said their commitment to restoration of special status and J-K’s statehood was intact and would remain so.
