 Police arrests 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla

 Jammu and Kashmir police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance in this north Kashmir district.

A police spokesman said Monday evening that a check point was established at Behrampora in Baramulla by police.

He said three persons identified asQazi Burhan and Qazi Asif  both residents of Qazipora Delina and Imran Ahmad Sofi  resident of Rawathpora Delina were intercepted. During checking police recovered 5 Kgs of Poppy straw and three grams of Brown sugar from their possession.

Similarly, acting on specific information regarding the drug peddling, a Police party of  Police Station (PS) Sheeri  recovered 40 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the house of Ghulam Nabi Dar son of Mohd Shafi Dar resident of Paliharan Sheeri. However, the accused is absconding and efforts are on to effect his arrest.

Accordingly, police has registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
