Covid threat receding in Ladakh

There is good news from Leh as no new covid positive case was reported while the people who were in the hospital are also showing all the signs of recovery.

Officials on Monday told media in Leh that so far the overall recoveries of the covid-19 patients have reached to 20,223. While the cases are receding is a big relief for the residents of Leh and adjoining areas but the tourism has not picked up.

Like Kashmir valley, Leh is also witnessing very low tourism though the authorities are trying to bring back tourists. Government has told residents of Leh and the adjacent areas not to lower the guard against the covid-19 and take all precautions to save themselves from this infection.

According to the PTI while reporting on Monday about the covid situation in Ladakh has said in its report  the total number of COVID-19 cases in Ladakh stands at 20,491, they said, adding the number of active cases in the union territory stands at 61 — 55 in Leh and six in Kargil district.

Officials said no new Covid case was reported in Ladakh on Sunday.

The death toll due to COVID-19 in Ladakh stands at 207 — 149 in Leh and 58 in Kargil, officials said.

A total of 1,637 sample reports, including 716 from Leh and 921 from Kargil, were found negative, they said.

No Covid-related death was recorded in Ladakh on Sunday.

All the patients who were discharged after recovering from the infection were from Leh, officials said.
