There has been a lot of control on the spread of covid-19 virus but in the past few days there is a fluctuation in the numbers of positive cases. As a precautionary measure district authorities of Srinagar did not allow Friday prayers at the main shrines and Masjids of Srinagar city including Jamia Masjid Srinagar and Hazratbal.

Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha has been monitoring the covid situation after the spread of second wave and has been chairing all the review meetings himself.

In one of the recent meetings he talked in detail about the measures taken and the readiness of the administration to tackle the spread of the infection in the possible third wave.

He chaired a series of meetings with Covid Task Force, DCs, SSPs and reviewed Covid response & containment measures of District Administrations in all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

He was informed that Government has substantially ramped up vaccination capacity across the UT; Testing & Tracing needs to be enhanced further to prevent Third wave and in the review meetings of the covid task force all such instructions are being given to the officers on the ground.

Manoj Sinha told his district heads that they should accord highest priority to the areas reporting new positive cases; increase testing in coming days.
