Ganderbal : Students from Central University of Kashmir (CUK) Ganderbal Friday staged a protest outside the Varsity demanding implementation of UGC guidelines and conducting of examination through online mode.

Pertinently, CUK has scheduled offline exams of the students of various departments.

The protesting students told news agency Kashmir News Trust that when classes were conducted in online mode, how exams will be conducted in offline mode.

They said scores of students have been informed that they are not eligible for the examination as they didn’t attend online classes. “As per UGC guidelines, online classes should be conducted on voluntary basis and students can’t be compelled to attend the classes. This should not have been made a yardstick for eligibility,” they said.

“Either gave us marks on internal assessment basis or conduct exams in online mode, besides make all the students eligible for the examination who have gone into depression over University ‘diktat’, they said.

The protesting students were carrying placards seeking implementation of University Grants Commission guidelines.

Earlier, students from CUK had staged a protest at Press Enclave in Srinagar to oppose the university’s decision. The students had alleged that they are being deprived of basic facilities by the university but at the same time are forced to appear in offline exams without hostel accommodation and transport facility.
