Charge sheet filed by Crime Branch against an accused in a cheating case

The Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has recently produced a charge-sheet against a non-local resident for allegedly cheating a resident of Shopian district.

This charge sheet was filed after the crime branch investigating the complaint filed by a villager of Shopian alleging that he was cheated by a non resident Kashmiri.

According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), CBK spokesman said that a charge-sheet was produced in a case under FIR number 33/2014 under section 420 RPC of Police Station CBK against Mohamed Shahid Khan, son of Mohamed Saleem Khan of B-38 Nazim-ud-Din West New Delhi before the Court of Judge Small Causes Srinagar.

“The instant case was registered on the allegations of cheating committed by the said accused, by using fake & fictitious DO of the then Member Parliament, Moti Lal Vohra,” it said.

“Crime Branch Kashmir had received a communication from Sham Lal Sharma, the then Minister for Health, J&K State on 29-08-2012 alleging therein that the Minister has received the communication, in form of DO letter duly signed by the then Member Parliament regarding adjustment and engagement of relatives of one Muhammad Yousuf Bhat of Mochwara Shopian and others in the Health Department as casual labors and nursing orderlies,” it said.

Further it was alleged, that after making a correspondence with the office of Member Parliament, the said DO was found fake and fictitious, it said.

Accordingly, a probe was initiated in CBK. During enquiry, it was established that one Shah Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Saleem Khan of Darya Gunj, New Delhi had by misuse of letter heads of All India Congress committee and after resorting to manipulation of documents, made fake recommendations attributed to Moti Lal Vohra Member Parliament for adjustment and engagement of beneficiaries etc.

On this count, a case under FIR number 33/2014 of Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir under section 420 RPC against the said accused person was registered and the investigation set into motion.

During the course of investigation, it was established that the accused had duped the complainant and grabbed an amount of Rs 25 lakhs on the pretext of providing a job in the Health Department by issuing a fake DO letter of then Member Parliament Moti Lal Vohra.
