JK Police arrests 4 drug peddlers, recovered contraband and NDPS

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband and cash from their possession in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

According to police spokesman, on a tip off police conducted a raid at a place in Prichoo pulwama and recovered 13 bottles of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) from the possession of Imran Sheikh at Alamdar Colony.

He said, during the question the accused imran revealed a nexus with another person who was on his way to hand over one more consignment of NDPS drugs.

Police swung into action and laid a naka near Boys Degree College Pulwam intercepted a car and on the subsequent searches 11 bottles of Codeine, 1700 tables of contraband drugs and Rs 80000 were seized from one Gowhar Ahmad Najar of Pinglina, police said.

He said two more persons identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat alias Mehdi and Javid Ahmad were also arrested on the instance of the accused.

Further arrests are expected as all links and threads are being analyzed to nab the culprits  involved in the conspiracy of supplying drugs, the police added.  Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the law against these persons in Pulwama police station.

A special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to investigate the case thoroughly and will work under the supervision of a Deputy Superintendent of Police Pulwama, police added.
