DC Kupwara reviews Snow clearance measures

KUPWARA, JANUARY 4: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din today convened a meeting of all concerned officers to review the situation arisen due to Snowfall in the district.

The DC was informed that all measures have been put in place already to tackle the situation and Snow has been cleared from all major roads and traffic is plying normally on Kupwara-Handwara; Kupwara-Sopore; Kupwara-Chowkibal; Kupwara-Lolab; Kupwara-Kalaroose; Kupwara-Vilgam; Handwara-Zachaldara; Handwara-Langate; Kupwara-Hyhama and other such routes.

AEE Mechanical informed that 15 machines are available with the Mechanical department which include 13 Snow clearance machines, 1 dozer and 1 backhoe loader (JCB).

Likewise, electricity is being restored in hilly areas while, in Towns and urban areas, power stands are restored.

All supplies including power, water, and road connectivity to all hospitals, government offices and emergency establishments have been restored fully.

Earlier, during the day, on the directions of DC Kupwara, ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat; sub divisional heads and concerned Tehsildars inspected the respective areas to monitor the Snow clearance operation.

Meanwhile, traffic movement on the border roads of Karnah, Keran and Machil has already been restricted to prevent any untoward incident due to Snowfall.
