10 militants killed in four gunfights in first week of January in Kashmir

Three Jaish-e-Muhammad militants were killed in an overnight gunfight that had raged in Central Kashmir’s Budgam village on late Thursday night.

The militants were trapped in Zolwa Chadoora village of Budgam district. The operation had been suspended for the night.

Police said that three militants were neutralized on Friday morning while incriminating material and AK-56 assault rifles were recovered from the gunfight spot.

One among the slain militants is from Kashmir capital Srinagar, informed Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar.

He said after killing of Waseem a resident of Srinagar city in Chadoora gunfight, there is only one Srinagar city resident militant left.

Quoting IGP Kashmir, Kashmir Police Zone informed that all the 3 killed militants were affiliated with militant outfit JeM . “So far one identified as Waseem of Srinagar City. 3 AK 56 rifles recovered. After killing of Waseem only 1 militant is Srinagar resident,”.

Pertinently, 10 militants and an infiltrator have been killed in the first week of this month. These 10 militants were killed in four gunfights at Okey Kulgam, Shalimar Srinagar, Chandgam Pulwama and Zolwa Chadoora. (KNT)
