District Admin Srinagar organizes programme on World Red Cross day at Girls HSS Nawakadal

SRINAGAR, MAY 09: In connection with celebrations of World Red Cross Day 2022 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the founder of the Red Cross Movement, Sir Jean Henry Dunant, an impressive function was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School(GGHSS) Nawakadal here today.

The programme was held on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, who is also the Chairman of District Red Cross Society,  Srinagar.

The theme for this year’s World Red Cross Day was “Be Humankind”.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Zahoor Ahmad Mir was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Haneef Balkhi attended the function as Guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner highlighted the role of District Red Cross Society in offering help, care, and life-saving services to people in during disasters.

He lauded their dedication, compassion, courage while helping the needy in the our of crises.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar also spoke on the occasion and lauded the role of District Red Cross team and other volunteers for working tirelessly by responding the needy people during any calamity or exigent situation.

Earlier, While welcoming the Chief Guest and other participants, Principal GGHSS, Nawakadal, Prof Munaza Ara said that   natural calamities have speared  no one during any  worst situations, but Red Cross staff and volunteers play pivotal role in saving and rehabilitation of people.

During the programme the students of the school presented different mesmerizing programmes on the theme.
