Bangladesh had the better of the third morning in Dhaka, getting two wickets for 67 runs in conditions that are assisting spin and reverse swing now.

Shakib Al Hasan delivered the all-important wicket of Dimuth Karunarathne inside the first hour, the Sri Lanka captain hitherto being the side’s mainstay. Shakib, bowling round the wicket, got the ball to turn in sharply and beat Karunarathne through the gate in a typical left-armer’s dismissal.

It helped that Bangladesh started the session on a perfect note, with Ebadot Hossain bowling nightwatchman Kasun Rajitha with the second ball of the day.

In the second half of the session, Angelo Mathews and Dhananjaya de Silva added steady 46 runs for the fifth wicket before rain intervened and cut off play in the final over of the session.

Brief Scores: Bangladesh 365 lead Sri Lanka 210/4 (Karunarathne 80, de Silva 30*, Mathews 25*; Shakib 2-38, Ebadot 2-54) by 155 runs
