Ground Water resources
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has been very keen to restore all the Ground Water resources across Jammu and Kashmir.
Principal Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, chaired a meeting of the UT Level Committee constituted for reassessment of Ground Water Resources across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Threadbare discussions were held on various issues like Nomination of Nodal Officers/ Chairperson of working Group, Formulation of UT level ground Water resource Estimation Assessment Cell, Formulation of District Level and Permanent Ground Water Level Assessment Cell in the Nodal Department, among others.
He directed the concerned officers to collect the correct data of GWRA from all stakeholders and upload the same on site within the given timeline. He also asked them to maintain coordination and synergy with nodal agencies and other concerned stakeholders for effective implementation of ground water management interventions at district level.
A powerpoint presentation was also presented to outline the progress achieved on various components by the committee.
Ground Water resources are very important for the future generations and the focus of the government is to redeem them so that there is a complete assessment situation on the ground.
