Pr. Secy SDD reviews progress on finalisation of Action Plan for Skill Mapping across J&K

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 16: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today chaired a meeting to review the progress on finalisation of Action Plan for Skill Mapping of edu across Jammu and Kashmir by UNICEF under YuWAAH initiative at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by Mission Director Skill Development Mission, Leena Padha; Director School Education Jammu, Ravi Shankar Sharma; Director SDD, Sudershan Kumar; Chief Adolescent Programming, UNICEF (YuWAAH), Dwarika Sriram; State Engagement Officer, NSDC, representatives of Labour & Employment, Education and Social Welfare departments and other concerned officials, both in person and through video conferencing.

Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Samoon remarked that the idea of this partnership between the SDD and UNICEF is to create employment avenues for youth and help them gain skills which form the core of modern present day digital world.

While deliberating on several aspects of this initiative by UNICEF under YuWAAH, Dr. Samoon asked the representatives of UNICEF to study the core objectives of NEP-2020 under which the Skill training courses are being given prime importance. He asked them to complete the Skill Landscape Analysis by the end of this month so that the objective of this partnership is achieved.

The Principal Secretary further delved upon the officers and representatives of UNICEF to show full commitment towards implementation of this mission as this is an opportunity to help our youth in getting better livelihood opportunities. He directed all the concerned persons to work in a coordinated manner so that the aim of this partnership is achieved.

During the meeting, Chief Adolescent Programming, UNICEF (YuWAAH) gave a detailed presentation to the Principal Secretary about YuWAAH initiative.

Pertinently, the Skill Development Department (SDD) of Jammu and Kashmir and YuWaah, a UNICEF- initiated multi-stakeholder global platform, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last month to work together closely for enabling youth in J&K, connect them to aspirational work and engage them as active change makers.
