Sheep and goat rearing units are being set up across Jammu and Kashmir and the government is providing subsidies to the youth to set up such units.
Integrated Sheep Development Scheme is proving a game changer for the unemployed youth and even the girls to set up their own farms especially in the rural areas.
In Bandipora district a young girl has established a unit under this scheme. There are two men working in my farm on a monthly salary of 9000 each.
Starting with 50 sheep, Mumtaza now owns more than 250 sheep. She not only earns livelihood for herself but for the family besides providing livelihood to two other families.
Another girl from Lawaypora area of Bandipora has adopted 100 Eve units.
She is also giving employment to three unemployed youth besides supporting my family economically.
She expressed her happiness and thanked the UT Government, District Administration and sheep Husbandry department for providing her assistance in establishing the unit.
She appealed to the unemployed youth to come forward and take benefit of different schemes provided by the Government to be self-sufficient.
