 Shops, other business Establishments served notices for violation of rules

 KISHTWAR, JANUARY 10: As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration, Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Amit Kumar along with his team, today conducted surprise inspections of the shops and other business establishments in Kishtwar Town and adjoining areas.

A total number of 25 shops and establishments were inspected and   those found violating the provisions of Jammu and Kashmir Shops and Establishment Act 1966 were served with written notice to appear before ALC Kishtwar in the Office.

The notices were served mainly for violation of the different sections of the Shops & Establishment Act 1966, likewise opening the shops despite being a closed day, for non- registration of shops under the said Act, and for not displaying the registration Form C in the shops.

During the visit, the ALC Kishtwar also briefed the necessity of registration under the act and further inspected the wage and payment registers under Payment of Wages Act and Minimum Wages Act.

He informed the shopkeepers to ensure the timely payment of wages to their workers and also ensure the implementation of newly notified Wage Rate by the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

Further, Inspection under Child Labour Act was also done in certain establishments and shops but no child labour was found in these establishments.

Later, the ALC met the President & Representatives  of  Shopkeepers Associations and encouraged them to circulate the message that all Shopkeepers should ensure the registration and renewal under Shops and Establishment Act.
