Central government has rolled out the ‘U-WIN’ pilot project for immunization services. Recently the Health Secretary launched a portal for Samba, Pulwama districts under this project. After the success of eVIN (pillar-1) and CoWIN (pillar-2), the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has rolled out the 3rd pillar ‘U-WIN’ for immunization services which will have Universal Immunization Program module under CoWIN platform. Director General, Health and Family Welfare, J&K, besides Assistant Directors Family Welfare, Jammu as well as Kashmir division, State Immunization Officer J&K and SPO J&K UNDP and other concerned officers were present during the launching ceremony.

As part of digitalization of health services, Secretary Health discussed the importance of an integrated immunization system which will help in effective management of vaccination programmes at UT and district level. He said that the launch of the U-WIN portal will do away with the hassle of keeping a physical record. It will enable digitization of session planning, updating vaccination status on a real time basis, he added.

Beneficiaries would be able to book slots for vaccination in advance. Once the whole immunization programme is digitized, beneficiaries will get certificates on the spot and they can also download them. The key features of U-WIN Portal included the aspects of self registration of beneficiaries for vaccination as well as on-site registration of pregnant woman, infant and children, birth doses of new born and subsequent vaccination events with the features of individualized tracking of beneficiaries for vaccination status, digitization of session planning, updating vaccination status on real time basis from the last mile of service delivery by the vaccinator.
